This was the second time that I am spending the weekend at Sebana; the first was with Helen over four years ago before she became my mother-in-law.
As a tourist stop, Sebana is as dull as dishwater. There is next to nothing here to do if you don't play golf or own a boat. The resort is as bare-boned as it can get, with neither a spa nor a convenience store.
I suppose the best way to sum up a weekend here is that it is full of oxymoronic idiosyncrasies. The resort, the marina, the golf course, and the vacation homes are beautiful, clean, and rather modern. Plenty of everything else in Sebana is between dilapidated and abandoned, less clean than I am used to, and pretty outdated.
Sebana appeals to me as it gives me the chance to get away from the hustle & bustle and the comforts of modern society. It lets this city girl catch a few glimpses of what kampung life was like. Because from where I come from, it isn't everyday that we hang bat nets on our patio, let alone expect them to see them work. We also don't expect to be joined by a frog while doing laps in the pool and feel like a water buffalo while watching your swimming companion's effortless breast strokes.
